“Ride for Youth Sponsorship Program,” created by Apollo Farms Ltd. is looking for private and public sponsors so that we can provide lessons and camp activities to those children that are "at risk" or children who come from low income families. We feel that it is extremely important to be able to offer all children the opportunity to experience equine activities regardless of family income level.
The children that are chosen to participate in our program have been selected through our application process or referred to us by our affiliate organizations which include but are not limited to Puerto Rican Action Committee, Big Brother Big Sister, and any other organization who would like to refer underprivileged or "at risk" children.
Our activities teach children not only about horses but also about responsibility, confidence, and respect. Not to mention the physical benefits such as motor skill development, balance, and coordination. The children are taught all aspects of horse care from grooming and feeding to training and basic first aide. They also get the opportunity to observe the farrier as well as the veterinarian.
